The SelClene franchise has been successfully operating throughout the UK since 1987. Sometimes copied but never equalled, SelClene cleans over 12,000 homes every week.

SelClene Edinburgh has been owned and operated by Ian Robertson since 1989 and covers the north of Edinburgh and West Lothian. We also cover the south of Glasgow and the whole of Ayrshire.

Oh, by the way, Gisela and Angela are sisters, so it really is a family firm! As a Selclene client you will be hearing a lot from them, as they like to keep in touch with all of their clients on a regular basis to make sure everything is going well, and that you're getting the best possible service. John Johnston - Area District Manager

John Johnston - Area District Manager

The Area District Manager (ADM) has two key jobs. One is to interview prospective cleaners to ensure that they are trustworthy. The ADM for your area is John Johnston. He will show the cleaner 2 training videos - one on honesty and reliability and the other on all the different cleaning skills required to clean your private house. John then checks the cleaners proof of identify, obtains 2 references, and gets a passport photograph.

Once he has all the information he believes is necessary to verify the cleaner's identity and experience, he passes all of the paperwork to the main SelClene office, where Angela will check out the references and input the cleaner's details on to the computer. It is a demanding process, but essential to ensure only properly vetted cleaners are taken on to the SelClene books. That way you can be certain of the high standard of service you will receive from all of SelClene's cleaners.

The second key job of the ADM is to meet with you to explain the service we offer. When you phone the main office to enquire about our service, and you like what we have to offer, and decide you would like a cleaner from SelClene, we will arrange for John to come to see you in your own home. John will explain how the whole system works, and will give you an agreement and a standing order mandate to sign. If you have any questions about our service, just raise them with him.

Angela has particular responsibility for recruiting cleaners. She is always on the lookout for innovative ways to attract the best and most reliable cleaners to ensure SelClene provides a great level of service for you, the client.

She also has the job of checking the references to make sure our cleaners are vouched for by previous employers or individuals of standing to confirm honesty and reliability. The part of the job she loves the most is matching our clients with their perfect cleaner.


Gisela - Office Manager

Gisela - office manager

Gisela is the Office Manager, responsible for the smooth running of the office. She has been in post for over 10 years. Gisela has special responsibilities for dealing with any claims for refunds and overdue accounts. She ensures that our aftersales service is excellent for you to ensure that you get the most from your cleaner.

For Gisela the aspect of the job that gives her the most satisfaction is that she gets to talk to so many different people throughout the day.
